WELCOME!

Wherever you are from, I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Crystal and I love all things design. I'm especially in love with anything artisanal, the handmade, a treasure from another century and all things found in the natural world. Don’t get me wrong, I love a great modern piece. I do!  And Scandinavian architecture... don't even get me started! I truly love it all. But there is something about nature and hard work that can make something profoundly beautiful that is good for the soul.

All of that brings me here with you. I launched The GRAND Pumpkin Co. in 2025, though I have been designing both exteriors and interiors for years. When I was in the 6th grade, my mom took me to my first Greens Workshop put on by our hometown's garden club. Each year you could choose what you wanted to make for that Christmas season and nine times out of ten, I always chose the wreath. One year, I did choose to make a kissing ball and it probably would’ve been the best one you’ve ever seen as I’m a sucker for perfection and love something excellent! I mean, who doesn’t? 

 

I've come to discover that it's the things that we love and light us up that naturally get passed down to our children. Wouldn't you agree? My mom has always created a beautiful home, wrapped lovely gifts, made delicious homemade meals and more. She has also faithfully decorated her porch for the changing of each season. Her talent for this kind of beauty has been admired by all who have visited her home throughout the years. I think I picked up this love for design and the beautiful things in life from her. What loves and enjoyments did your parents pass onto you?

 

Ironically enough, my mom and I both have degrees in merchandising as well. I just travelled a little farther for mine. After rounding out my portfolio with help from Kendall College of Art and Design, I moved to New York City and completed my BA from The Fashion Institute of Technology. One of the greatest gifts of my life has been to be able to live in such an amazing city with so much beauty and life pumping through it's veins. My degree wasn't the only path that had me following in my mom's footsteps, we even both designed storefront windows. What an experience it was for me to do this on Park Avenue for the only woman's bespoke suit designer in the city! 

 

I moved back to Michigan the day after I graduated and started my career as Mom/Home CEO four months later. That was 15 years ago and I never stopped creating in fashion, interiors, florals and events. And now I find myself here with you and some extra time on my hands as my kids are in school full-time. Where does the time go? I’ve had many years to marinate all of my ideas and am now excited to put one of them to work....for you!

 

You know that thing you do, that people always say you’re so good at and that you should do it for a job? They tell you they wish you would come to their house and do it for them? Well, seasonal design is one of those things for me. And my favorite is fall! And for that, I’m grateful for the opportunity to create in this way. I would love to serve you and your family or business, with the skill I’ve been able to hone over the last 30 years. I hope we get to meet soon!
